“A final act of astonishing kindness”
Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity are proud to fund bespoke sympathy cards sent to bereaved families through our Specialist Palliative Care Team.
The Palliative Care Team supports patients and their loved ones at the end of life, and their care continues even after a death has occurred. As part of this support, Specialist Palliative Care Social Workers Charlotte and Julia write personal condolence cards to families and significant others, offering words of comfort alongside practical information about bereavement support and signposting to additional help.
Navigating loss can be incredibly difficult, and these small but thoughtful gestures can provide reassurance at a time of profound grief.
One family recently shared how much this gesture meant to them:
“I want to thank all of you for your unfailing kindness, care and concern. You were compassionate and informative and gave the impression of having all the time in the world to talk to us. You were simply awesome. I have even this morning received a hand-written sympathy card with information on bereavement counselling from your team – a final act of astonishing kindness. I can’t say thank you enough.”
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity can fund these bespoke cards, helping ensure compassion, dignity and care continue beyond a patient’s final days.
