Christmas is a time for family, celebration, and togetherness. But for many patients in our hospitals it’s time spent away from home. For our incredible staff, it means giving up time with their own loved ones to care for those who need them most.

Help us bring festive joy to patients and staff at our hospitals.

This Christmas, you can help us continue to support patients and staff at Epsom Hospital, St Helier Hospital and our communities across Sutton and Surrey. Whether it’s by making a one off donation, getting involved in fundraising or joining one of our events , every contribution makes a difference.

Your support helps us provide the little extras that brighten the wards at the most difficult time of year – from festive decorations and gifts for children, to wellbeing treats and hot meals for staff working on Christmas Day.

Christmas through Clare and Baby Jaxx’s eyes

Last December, baby Jaxx became desperately unwell in the run-up to Christmas. Struggling to breathe and rapidly deteriorating, he was rushed to St Helier Hospital and diagnosed with RSV and bronchitis.

His mum, Clare, remembers how quickly things changed:

“Jaxx went downhill so quickly. He looked so helpless and couldn’t catch his breath. To be honest, I was scared.”

With two young daughters at home and Christmas fast approaching, the family feared they would be spending the holidays on the ward. But Clare says the support they received helped them through the darkest moments:

“The doctors and nurses were fantastic – not only did they look after Jaxx, they looked after us. Even small things like reassuring us or giving us a few minutes to grab a coffee meant so much.”

And thanks to kind donations to our Charity, the ward felt a little brighter. Festive decorations, carol singers, and even a visit from Fulham FC players helped lift everyone’s spirits.

“Those decorations, visits and little extras genuinely made a difference. They turned a very tough experience into something a little brighter. We’ll never forget it.”

After five days in hospital, Jaxx was well enough to go home – just in time for Christmas
