Mary Seacole Unit takes on the Thames Bridges Trek to support patients

Staff from the Mary Seacole Unit are stepping out together once again, taking on their own version of the Thames Bridges Trek to raise funds for the unit and support activities for patients.

The walk is about more than just the miles. For the team, it’s an opportunity to come together, strengthen relationships outside the ward, and raise vital funds that help make patients’ stays more comfortable and meaningful. It’s also not their first challenge – the team has previously taken on fundraising walks together which were a huge success.

The funds raised will help the team create a more dementia-friendly environment and provide activities, games and equipment that support patients during their stay.

Their previous fundraising efforts have already made a difference. Following their last walk, the team were able to purchase music equipment for patients to enjoy – small additions that help create a warmer, more supportive environment.

For the team, working on the Mary Seacole Unit is all about supporting patients to regain independence and ensuring their time on the ward is as positive as possible. They pride themselves on working closely together and supporting patients’ families and friends, making sure care is centred around what matters most to each individual.

The team say they are excited to take on the walk together.

“We’re really excited about the walk because it’s something we can do together as a team, knowing that every step will help us provide more for our patients. We’d really appreciate anyone who would consider donating to our fundraising efforts.”
